When I bought my house over 25 years ago, there was a small crack
in the retaining wall. Over the years the crack grew larger and the
wall started to lean. Finally, the City of Calgary told me I had to
replace it. Finding a competent contractor and getting the job done
took over a year, but it is finally finished.Before

They began by tearing out the old wall. this was very labour
intensive because, as you can see in the photos above, my neighbour's deck
is only about 10 feet from the wall. They took out a big chunk out
of my front yard to pour new footings.
